Hi All,
So I am new to this forum but not to this site. I have been getting ideas for the past few months as I am planning on starting my chickens summer of 2012 and I like to be over prepared. My plan is to keep about 10 Freedom Rangers as my layers and then hatch about 3 of their eggs a week for meat so I have a constant flow of meat and eggs. So this means that at any one time I can have up to a max of 46 chickens of different ages, as I plan on processing the hatch-lings at 12 weeks. I don't know if this is a practical amount so please chime in on that. My idea is to have a Paddock system set up for them with 4 outside areas that will rotate every 10 days with vegetables/fruits growing in each area so most of the food will be taken care of. I want to have a coop in the middle of these 4 areas as this will basically be set up like a big square. So for these plans how big exactly should I make the coop and how big would you recommend each of the 4 paddock areas be. I'm sure I will have more questions down the line but this should be a good start.
