Please help ! Basically we had three hens start sitting on eggs. Between them 4 chicks hatched and when I went in there today to check on them, I found an egg that had a chicken in side. It was alive, cheeping and seemed to be ready to hatch. The only problem was that the mum had left it to care for the other chicks so it’s membrane had hardened. In fear of shrink wrap I put it straight into the incubator. I then searched what to do for a hardened membrane around a chick a and it said that just to damp the membrane with warm water to stop it sticking and killing the chick, so I did. But what should I do because it still has its egg sack and everything else a normal chick would have when hatching but I don’t know if because it still has its egg sack that it’s premature, any suggestions? Any answers will be highly appreciated. Thanks 🙏 .

I agree with @nuthatched, just let it rest. How's it doing now?

All is good moving and a lot more noisy. Should I wait for it’s feathers to dry out before putting it under a heat lamp. One of its siblings hatched with it and I need to move it can I move the other one too ?

Thanks he is doing well and now under a heater. Only one question tho, his umbilical cord is dry and still attached to him and the shell. Can I cut it ?

You can carefully/gently detach the cord from the egg shell, but don't cut the cord itself. Let it dry up and fall off naturally so as to prevent any risk of infection. On that note and to be safe, after you detach the cord from the shell, disinfect the end with alcohol, hibicens, or a small dab of triple antibiotic ointment without painkiller.
