I have a week old chick that was doing fine with her surrogate mommy (Silkie named Poodle). I went to check on them this morning and found the baby in distress. Breathing hard, unsteady on her feet. She also has a large lump, which look like swelling, beginning at the back of her head and continuing down to her neck to her wings, but not swelling in her wings. Has anone seen this before? Any ideas how I might help her? I think it may be too late, but Poodle is sitting on two other eggs and I don't want the same thing to happen again. Please help!
