Might be too soon to tell but I’m thinking this is a rooster. 4 weeks old and comb is turning pinkish and it has a short tail. I have 2 barred rocks and another unknown which like to be picked up and petted, but this one always squawks and scratches when I need to remove it from bin. It seems a little smaller than the others but they are all 4 weeks.

Looks like a hybrid cockerel

Where did you get him?
Oh darn! We got 4 chicks from a friend. Luckily we can exchange any males for females. Wouldn’t you know I picked that one because it was so pretty, and my husband picked out the others. 😱 lol

He is going to be something special in the looks department. It appears his wing feathers a frizzled. If so, he would be out of this world.

Yep we will wait a month or two and see what happens. We are just starting out with chickens and so far it’s been a lot of fun and not as nerve wracking as I thought.
