Someone called Animal Control about my chickens.Animal Control came out and the claims were unfounded. Now Planning and Zoning say they need to talk to us about the county's interepation of the regulations and ours?I live in Charles County Maryland and called Planning and Zoning before we got our birds.I was told I was allowed 2 chickens because I own less than 2 acres.I found the regulations online and read it myself. So what is the best way to handle this situation.I have printed out a copy of the law and will post a link below.

Sooo... whoever decided to put a black background on the ordinances should be shot. Here is a better link: http://gcp.esub.net/cgi-bin/om_isap...o&record={1003E95}&softpage=Browse_Frame_Pg42

Do a document search for "poultry". The things that stuck out was the requirement that the coop be 200 feet from any property line, 2 adult chickens per acre and does not create a nuisance (see the nuisance ordinance). Our ordinance requires 25 feet, but I'm not sure they mean the coop or that my chicken can't roam closer than 25 feet from my neighbor's property, so that may be an issue too. Good luck, and hopefully they'll just ask you to change some things. Be cooperative because it sounds like you have some snotty neighbors that the city will have to deal with again. You want them on your side. Fingers crossed for ya! Mm
