Hello, I obtained 20 chicks that are (supposed to be) pullet chicks from Meyer hatchery. The order included a few specific breeds that I know which ones they are (not pictured), and the rest were a mix of rare Marans and mixed colorful egg basket chicks.

For grins, anyone want to weigh in on identifying these particular chicks?
These are just going to be a mixed layer flock, but it's fun to try to figure out the unknowns.

Chick #1

EE? 3 other EEs from the group with obviously puffy cheeks:

Chick #2

Chick #3

Chick #4 - The biggest, tallest standing chick of the bunch...

Chicks #5, 6, 7, 8 - I was presuming 6/7/8 were golden cuckoo marans and 5 was a cuckoo marans, but 5 seems to match up with photos I google. If that's a gold cuckoo marans, what are the other 3?

Thanks for any and all opinions. Was just taking updated photos and some things were not what I was guessing initially. Thought I'd ask my BYC peeps!

#1. Welsummer or Brown Leghorn, though I'm leaning towards Wellie. Earlobe color after a certain age will determine. Red = Welsummer, and white = Brown Leghorn.
#2. All pretty EEs. Some are beardless.
#3. Could be Black Orpington, Black Australorp, or Black Jersey Giant. What color are the bottoms of the feet? Cockerel, too.
#4. I'm thinking Blue Splash Marans, if the feet are pink.
#5. Could be another Blue Splash Marans
#6. All are Golden Cuckoo Marans. :) The top is simply hatchery quality, and looks very similar to my own Meyer GCM girl.

LOL, out of 20 chicks, I'm counting on some of the pullets to be cockerels, thanks for the heads up.

#1 - Thanks, will watch, wait, and see what comes in coloration / egg color.
#2 - Was thinking EE, especially how similar it is to the others, but with straight comb/no beard, figured I'd ask. :D
#3 and 4 - Thought they were going to be lavenders, but looking splash. Loads more leg feathers than the other Marans in the order.
#6 - Wasn't sure on the range of coloration on them, thanks for the input!

You're welcome! ;)

Since EEs aren't standardized, they can also sport single combs occasionally. :D

I suppose Splash Cochin could be an option, but only if their legs are yellow. :) Body type doesn't match up with Cochin, either. Still leaning towards Splash Marans.

Looking forward to an update!

Black unknown has pink feet bottoms. I was calling is a "Black Jersey Giant???" in my records as the chick appearance was spot on to their example photo (their austrolorp photos had more white on the chests, lighter legs), but waiting to see what it does. It's not bigger than the other chicks, in the bottom half of size thus far. It doesn't have the cushion that the 3 buff orpingtons have, but will see how it matures out!

:)

Pink foot bottoms are consistent with either Black Australorp, or Black Orpington. :) Yellow = Jersey Giants. Guess we'll see!
