I have 12 bantam chicks that I would really appreciate some help with both sexing and identifying. They are from our local feed store, and came from a bin labeled "Assorted Bantams". I estimate they are at least 6 weeks old, possibly a little older. They are straight run. Here they are:

Chick #1:

The first 6 chicks appear to me to be the same breed. Anybody agree?

Chick #2:

Chick #3:

Chick #4:

Chick #5:

Chick #6:

2 shots, one with flash for color

Chick #7:

Pale colored beak and less feathering on the feet

Chick #8:

Chick #9:

2 shots, one with flash

Chick #10:

Big comb and waddles, roo?

Chick #11:

I call this one the duckling

Chick #12:

Frizzle??

Thanks for any and all help. These little guys and gals are getting too big for the brooder, and soon will need to be sorted out and sent to their respective homes. Time for a nice summer outside!!!

9 and 10 look like black tailed buff japs
11 looks like a brahma if it has a pea comb if it is single comb it is cochin
the rest are verities of cochins

it looks like you may have lucked out with 10 being a cockerel and 3 a possible cockerel and the rest pullets

Thanks so much for the reply! If these are indeed a bunch of hens, I will be very happy. None have pea combs, so I don't think there are any brahmas. Cochins would be very neat. I hadn't even heard of the black tailed buff japanese, but they are very pretty chickens. Very cool!
