Hi All,
I had a roo that was on Tetroxy HCA-280. I kept him in a separate run while he had the meds in his water. At the end of his treatment one of my young hens got inside the run. I have no idea if she drank the water with Tetroxy or not. This medicine is Oxytetracycline HCI.
Now my pullet, 2-3 days after the possible consumption of the meds started laying eggs. This med says "do not feed to birds producing eggs". Yet, they say you can slaughter chickens that had this med? I have seen where they listed a withdrawal time but this says nothing about that---just don't let them have it.
My question is does anyone know what the withdrawal time is? Or is this something permanent? I emailed the company, Bimeda, but they never responded. I've not used any of her eggs but for how long do I need to do this?
ANYONE????

Update:

I just spoke with customer service at Bimeda----they said NEVER use this birds eggs! There is no withdrawal period at all.

Warning to anyone thinking about using this medicine. I am shocked! I contacted the feed store who sold me this as tetracycline---apparently they thought there was no difference.

I simply don't know what to say. She is a beautiful bird who lays beautiful eggs!

I have no idea about letting her have babies now as it may do something to her offspring.
I've raised this bird for over five months. Now she is just a pet. I am so upset.

BE VERY CAREFUL WHERE YOU GET YOUR ADVICE & WHAT YOU LET YOU CHICKENS HAVE!
