Help with my drake....

Hello,
I have a Saxony drake who is 1 year old and his head has still not changed to the blue/grey it is supposed to be.... I have tried feeding cat food, oats, sunflower seeds seeing if that will help but nothing.... anybody have any ideas??

Do you have another drake? Maybe it was a coincidence but when I had two drakes only the dominate one would get his full breeding plumage. My other drake did his first year but then he lost in the pecking order the next. That year, his head wasn’t nearly as dark and he lost his drake curl. I have always wondered there pecking order affects their plumage?!
