Hello everyone I have been following this site for years but haven’t really posted anything. I need some help with my beautiful girls. I had one last Wednesday that just became lethargic, breastbone was very prominent, not egg bound, crop OK, No respiratory problems, no worms, no Mites,No ulcers or crusty formations around nostrils. She just stopped moving and I brought her home kept her warm and then she just laid down and died, had no energy left in her. Her name was chicken hawk and she was a beauty. Yesterday I saw my prized Houdan sitting out by herself which was highly unusual. Everyone came in but her. She had all the same signs as chicken hawk and I brought her home gave her a little bit of nourishment and she died a few minutes ago. Her name was Beatnick. I am noticing one that’s getting a little slow she’s one of my bantams. I have not changed feed, everything has stayed the same. The only thing here in Texas is we’ve gotten colder weather but they’ve always been used to that. They’re up at night completely concealed from the weather. Live in a very healthy and clean environment. So can someone please help me. I am So upset. I know chickens and Owned them for years ... have not experienced this
Thank you in advance, shell

What exactly do you feed?
How old are they?
When was the most recent time you brought any new to you bird home?

Can you get clear pictures of fresh poop?
Can you get clear photos of each eye?
Can you take a short video of her trying to walk?

Regular feed as I’ve always used.
Poop somewhat runny
Chicken hawk was three and Beatnick was seven months.
Eyes are very clear and no liquid from nostrils.
Were not walking

New introduction of a 6 month old roo 3 months ago. Is not with the flock due to rooster problems with my others.

Sorry for your 2 losses so close together. Do you still have the second hen’s body so that you could send or take it in to one of your state poultry vets for a necropsy? I would check the crops early in the morning and look for unusual droppings on any others who appear sick. Poop pictures can be helpful.

I have my county farm agent on stand by for just this.
when i first thought about getting chickens i stopped by the county courthouse and found her office.
I asked about any issues with chickens around us and if my birds started dropping is there any help from her. She said yes, absolutely .
A necrocracy as they want to stop anything contagious in livestock animals.
now my first move would be freezing the bird , calling farm agent , adding electrolytes to water, check feed for mold, check birds for lice, mites, ticks, marks, vent, poop... poison planet, bait, fluids , what's new ? spend more time out with them the next few days.
