Hubby went out this morning to let ducks out. Judy would not come out of the laying box that has 3 of this mornings eggs in it.. one each from her, daisy, and Ellie.. I went out to put food in there and yep she is hunkered down with straw all around her and open her bill at me like stay back ..
Stanley has been chasing her around like crazy for the past month pestering her again.. she was getting very aggetated when we would come around her and quack.. the last few weeks to give her a break from his hormones I've been putting her in the yard and shutting the other 3 in day pen. Hubby noticed the last few days she was always in the box where they lay their eggs but would come out..
I know she hasn't started pulling feathers yet..
Hubby wants me to take the eggs out put them in pet carrier and her in little garage... I don't think I should bother her ..
Daisy tried to go broody last year and it only lasted a few days.
Except she held her eggs and layed them behind the brush pile. after 4 days she went back to normal..
Well just came back in,, Hubby wanted to fix her a place in small garage. we mounded up straw in an old shelf on it's side I putdown plastic so the eggs woujldn't be on the conquret.. I got her and he got the eggs and we put them on the nest and then her.. she went right in and layed down on them.. I hope this works as I wanted to leave her alone in the night raised pen. but she had ground the nest down to the hardware cloth and the eggs were setting on it.. Stanley would still tried to pester some plus the other two girls would of wanted to lay eggs in their too.. also if judy goes broody ( crested pekin) the Daisy the WH will decicde to go broody I bet..
What are Y'alls thoughts.
