Help with roofing

So do you think if I had two layers it would stop that movement or do nothing at all?

It would be best to use a layer of REAL insulation such as foam or fiberglass
Doubling the roofing material "would" double the insulation value, but STILL won't amount to a large enough "R-Value" to matter

Just put down a 1" layer of styrofoam if you want insulation, then put the roofing on top of that

Letting in Sunlight isn't a great benefit since the birds won't need it and won't spend that much time in the coop during the day anyway
Personally I'd use metal instead of plastic, since the plastic will break in a hail storm

Thank you for the response, I don't think I'm going to use the plastic anymore. I'm either going to use metal or stick with roofing shingles.

Wrong!!! The body Heat from the chickens will insulate throughout the pen making it warmer but only if you have a roof! Sooooo yes... It will trap heat in the coop if there is a roof...and a roof is safer and better anyway...

You need to look up the definitions of "insulate" and "radiate" BEFORE declaring anything "wrong"

Thw question wasn't whether or not to put a roof on the coop

If you have the proper ventilation,
the heat produced by the birds will not heat the coop space.
Another chicken keeping fallacy.
