Hello! I have these new straight run chicks, about three and a half weeks, and I can’t tell what they are, and was looking for some help. Almost certain the silver lace Wyandotte is a roo, based on the fact it’s got the most attitude and sometimes pecks me when I go to pick it up.
The rest don’t have as much outstanding roo personality traits, though the white leghorn is very curious, always flying up to anywhere it can, and loves to lead the flock, but super friendly too, especially towards me!
Silkie has a basic silkie personality, calm, cuddly, and sticks with the flock.
Buff Orpington mostly follows the white leghorn around and follows what it does.
It seems like the chicks have kind of paired up, Silver lace+Silkie and White leghorn + Buff Orpington, though they still travel together mostly. I was wondering if this is a sign of possibly the white leghorn and silver lace choosing their hens, as they often have rooster-like stances while the others keep their necks low. Could I be correct about this? Do their appearances say anything?
