Hi everyone was registering my Silkies for the South Carolina state fair and it says that your birds have to have a negative Pullorum-Typhoid test. Where can I get this test done? Also they have to be banded. So where can I get bands from and how do you organize the numbers? Thanks! -Alex

Also here are the rules:

OPEN CHICKEN DIVISION RULES AND REGULATIONS
1.
Smallstock General Rules and Regulations shall apply.
2.
The show will be held under the rules of The American Poultry Association, The American Bantam Association, and The South Carolina State Fair. Poultry will shown as singles only. All specimens must be banded with numbered legbands and number recorded on entry form to identify your animals.
3.
All registered feathered fowl, except pigeons, shall originate from U.S. Pullorum-Typhoid Clean or equivalent flock, or have a negative Pullorum-Typhoid test within ninety (90) days of registration. Each bird must be identified with a tamper proof band at the time of the test.
4.
A copy of the Pullorum-Typhoid testing must accompany the birds. Present papers to Superintendent before birds are placed in coops.
5.
A licensed blood tester will be available on Tuesday, October 12, 2010. There is a charge for this service. Due to the threat of Avian Influenza to the poultry industry in South Carolina, no poultry from any state that is presently under federal quarantine, in whole or part, for Avian Influenza will be allowed. This also applies to poultry that has been within said states in the last twelve (12) months. Chickens and turkeys should have been vaccinated for Fowl Pox more than thirty (30) days prior to the Fair opening.
6.
Birds will be received beginning at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 and must be cooped by 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 12, 2010.
7.
Birds will be released on Sunday, October 24, 2010 from 7:30 AM - 10:00 AM or after 7:00 PM -- NO EXCEPTIONS to these times.
8.
Classes are provided for Cock, Hen, Cockerel, and Pullet. Cockerels and Pullets to be 2010 hatch. Entries open on all breeds listed by the APA and ABA.

That test is done by your NPIP representative. Call your local agricultural extension office and tell them you need to have your birds NPIP tested. The testing is done once per year. In Florida it's free, but I think that is determined state by state.
