Help with this broody

Is there a way to convince a hen to be broody ? I need some chicks and don't have an incubator, in the last spring 5 of my 20 hens went broody with a good success, but this season no one of them do, can I make a hen sit on some eggs to hatch ??

Nope, you can't make them set... try putting 5 or 6 golf balls in one nest.. see what happens.

you could put golf balls or fake eggs into the nests to encourage one, but they go broody whenever they want you can't really make one, that's why i've now got an incubator
