Hi,
This is my first hatch. I set 6 eggs. I got 5 beautiful chicks on Sunday (day 20). I still have one that hasn't hatched. Did float test and it was still good. Should I start the chick by pipping for it? I know that everyone says to wait but for how long?
Thanks

No, do not assist until it shows that it can pip and wants out of the egg. Hatching is natures way of weeding out the weak ones. If they can't get out, they are not fit to survive. Usually when they pip, they are still attached to the inside of the egg and have yet to absorb the yolk sac. So you have no idea at what stage this little guy is at. So if this was my egg, I would leave it alone. Make sure to keep your humidity up around 65% to 70% and just let it be. Today is only day 23. I will go 5 days past the due date of 21 to be sure. But it is still too soon yet to bust him out or give up on him.

Congrats on the rest of the hatch! And I hope this little guy makes it too!!
