We have 4, 7 Week Chickens getting ready to go out to their coop when it is finished.
We inherited a small unfinished coop that we are building onto.
I have not measured (My husband wont let me near his project), but I believe it is around 6 x 4 Ft. I am adding some pictures at the bottom.
The original coop has a nice removable roof. It is not on right now, but I have added a picture. It does not appear to have any vents under the roof, but as you can see the square hole in the back above the new addition it had windows and a vent.
My husband is planning on adding our new roof at an angle a few inches 2-4 below that one leaving that much ventilation across that top point under the roof.
We will have a door that opens the whole side of the back side on the new addition.
Given the coop isn't super tall and we need spots for the chickens to roost below it. How much more ventilation do we need, where would you put it, and any other suggestions would be extremely helpful since we are finishing up this weekend hopeful.
I have read a lot about ventilation, but it seems most have higher coops.
We live in the Pacific North West in Washington State. We don't usually get super cold winters, but we do get winter and usually our summers are pretty mild, but weather patterns have been changing and this year has been in the 80's and above.
