Help with water'er build!

Hi everyone

Im going away in april for ten days and no one will be able to watch my chickens


I want to make a water'er that fills automatically when the water level drops

Im thinking like a 3-4 foot long trough with welded fence over it to keep the ducks from playing.

I want it to refill when the water level drops, so it will always be hooked up to a hose and i think i would put a toilet float and valve in it right?

What parts will I need?

Im pretty handy so i can build it but i was woundering if anyone else has made one of these?

I would go to the feed store and get a float for a horse waterer. The hose hooks to in and it has hanging brackets that clamp onto the side.

I have seen on here some where a neat PCV thing.
Long with a U joint. The pcv went stright up on the
outside aned the U joint threw the fence.
Dosnt look like it would work at first but they do.
