First time incubating. I am a worrier
. The very first night after setting I had nightmares about the incubator cooking them and them all becoming hard boiled. THE WHOLE NIGHT!!!! The last dream of the night my 3 year old was eating the hard boiled eggs
.I knew then it would be a long 28 days.
So some how/where I read and thought my humidity was supposed to stay between 55-65% during the first 26 days. I have been candling and watching them develop but forgot to keep a eye on the air sac. On day 17 I finally checked the air sac and marked it on the shell. when i went online to see if it looked the right size they all looked smaller in comparison to what i was seeing online . It was at that point I realized I had the humidity too high
. I love animals and even get upset when someone kills bugs. So to have these little lives in my hands it weighs a lot on me and I wanted to be doing every as perfectly as possible. I know that nature runs it course and not all eggs will make it but for something to happen and it have been a mistake I made really upsets me. I have been caring over these eggs making sure them temps were perfect, turning 5-7x a day, cooling them for 30 mins a day since day 7, spraying once a day with warm water, and i THOUGHT perfect humidity
.
I removed all water in the wells and added a silica package to help lower the humidity. For the last 4 days humidity has been 32-35%. Some of the air sacs have grown quite a bit since I lowered the humidity but others have not moved much at all. I got the eggs for free from a women online and she said they are an assortment of breeds. two of the eggs are larger and rounder then the others... I think they may be Muscovy?
another reason I am wondering if they are Muscovy is because everyone was growing at the same rate and now the two larger eggs seem to be a little delayed in development. The other eggs are almost all black except for veins up top with limited view of movement and these two larger eggs I still can see into egg and see them moving around when candling. if anyone knows if they might be Muscovy please let me know so I don't panic on day 28 when they don't hatch with everyone else (if everyone else makes it through this humidity crisis).
going to post pictures please tell me if the air sac looks ok or too small and if what I am doing might still be able to salvage them and/or what else i can do to help them.
egg A
egg B (possible Muscovy??)
Egg C
Egg D (possible Muscovy )
Egg E
Egg F (green egg thicker shell. has always been harder then others to see when candling. also one of the smallest air sac. worries me a lot)
Egg 7
Egg 8
