Been trying to integrate new chickens in with our older ones, as our older ones are not much older. Been taking them out every day (with supervision) to get used to each other and there has been some bullying, but nothing of concern has been happening. I went to check on them and I noticed that one of the little one’s vent was bleeding. I tried to use a little bit of hydrogen peroxide to disinfect the wound, but she screeches and freaks out when I touch it. She is acting normal, but she is picking at the wound. Please help!

I have separated her from the others and given her food and water until I have an idea of exactly what I should do. I checked all of the others and none of the others had any injuries. I think they pick on her becasue she is less feathered out.

Poor thing!
Do you have any Vetericyn you can spray on it?

I would not use Peroxide. If you need to flush it with saline or warm soapy water. Whatever you use, it's likely going to sting. You can put a little triple antibiotic ointment on the vent to help it heal.

I would make sure she's drinking well.

I don’t have any, but she seems to be doing better. Thanks for letting me know I shouldn’t use peroxide, I looked online and it said that was a good thing to use to disinfect wounds, but I guess not. What brands of antibiotic ointment are best for chickens? I don’t want to accidentally use anything toxic. Thanks!

Peroxide is o.k. for an initial cleaning. Repeated use could damage the tissue, so you're o.k.!

You can use any brand triple antibiotic ointment, find one without pain relief. (Think Original Neosporin) I'm cheap, so I usually buy generic at the Dollar Store, but you can find it at WalMart, CVS, etc.
