I have a hen that is around a year old,she looked and ac5ed fine yesterday , this morning I noticed she did not come out of the coop with the rest of the hens so when I went in I noticed that she is breathing funny she will stretch out her neck like she's trying to breath but she's making a gurgling sound,she won't eat but does drink water,someone told me that she could have gapeworms but I don't know what to give her for that,someone help pls I hate to see her die,all the other hens are doing very well no problems.

Very sorry to hear about your hen! I wish I could help more but I'm not very experienced along these lines. If I were you I would post this in the Emergencies / Diseases / Injuries and Cures forum and look to see if there are any helpful articles in the https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/maintaining-a-healthy-flock. I hope your hen pulls through all right!

Please post in full detail at "emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures " thread. She may have gapeworms, or crop issues or something completely different. You want to treat for the correct problem, or it won't help at all.

You might try gently wiping the back of her throat with a q-tip. If it comes out a bit bloody or worms on it, you have your answer about gapeworms.

Sorry to hear your girl is ill. How is she today?

My hen was doing the same thing and I took her to the vet and it termed out her crop was full of junk and she had to have surgery that mite be what is the problem
