my son has an older chicken bout 6 years she became lethargic sleepy and bit of foam coming out of her mouth is she just passing on from old age or sickness ??

I’m sorry your son’s hen is not well. How quickly did this come on? Is she eating, drinking, pooping, breathing normally? Could she have gotten into anything poisonous? Please examine her and check her crop to make sure it’s empty in the morning. It woukd be good to bring her in to a safe, warm environment and offer supportive care, like poultry vitamins with electrolytes in her water. Lots coukd be going on here. I find the foaming at the mouth a bit alarming, but someone else here may know it as a specific symptom of something. Please try to provide as much information as possible. I hope we can help you!

she just passed , she slowed down the last week or so and sleeping sleeping sleeping , then eating very little today the foam was ever so slight , she was defiantly in retirement hadn't laid an egg in a very long time . the rest of the flock is doing good , we have a camera in coop and can see they are active

I'm so sorry she died.

I used to live in Fairbanks and was wondering if you've had a clear transition to winter yet. Are the chickens in their winterized coop for most of the day, or are they still out and milling around?

It seems seasonal changes can affect chickens and not just people.
