I have 2 roosts set at different heights in my henhouse and have never had this happen.Agreed - if you have a staggered perch situation, the hens at the top of the pecking order will claim the top perch, and will pull the feathers off the ones on the lower perch. Just make sure she doesn't have mites. I will say, I have a chicken who seems to have pattern baldness...she never really had good head feathers even as a pullet, and is rather bald, always.
