I have 2 Peking ducks. They have always put themselves in their coop for the night around 8:45 and I let them out in the morning. Routine. Well I went on vacation about a month ago and built a temporary enclosed run that attaches to their coop door so they can stay safe but go in coop at night and be let out during the day while on vacation. Ever since I got home and removed the run, they don’t put themselves up anymore. They are swimming in the pool and playing around past their bedtime late at night until I make them go in coop. Any ideas on why this might be happening?

For my ducks, they are all about routine. If any little thing is different, they don't like it at all. They tend to get very nervous and just unsure about what to do. A small change throws everything off for about a week or so. How long have you been back and removed the run? I'm sorry. I hope they'll accept the change back to what they used to do, very soon. I'm sure other will hopefully have more helpful information.

Be insistent on them going inside before dark. They will get back into the routine . They don't know the dangers staying out after dark. You do.
