I need help one of my 8 week old silkie chicks has what looks like a burn wound on the back of it's head/neck. It has stopped bleeding and is just skin and a little bit of blood. Do you think that it could have just been caused by pecking or burn or both? Will the fethers ever grow back?

Thanks PLEASE ANSWER SOON

I've read that neosporin without the pain relief is ok, but instead you might want to just clean it gently with water and keep an eye on it. How would it have gotten burned? Might just be from pecking. Birds heal really fast, even if it looks ugly. Mine have pecked deep puncture wounds into each other and healed just fine. They are very resilient so don't panic too much, especially if it's just a surface wound.

You might want to raise it up or hang it where they can't get to it. By 8 weeks, they shouldn't need as much heat anyway. They really do heal fast so I hope it's ok!
