First post and new to the chicken world. My first chicken purchase from Tractor Supply. Age - around 4 months, sold as black diamond, but has bluish green scatter of feathers. Read that black diamonds were solid black with sprinkling of brown feathers? Hard time determining breed and sex.

Rooster or hen?

Healthy black chickens with have a sheen to their wings. Looks like a pullet. I think.a black Diamond is just hatchery designer breed, if she is one. She looks melanistic, black skinned.

Mixed breed, pullet.

Sorry, I'm kinda new to the whole chicken thing, but if they have pointed feathers, they are cockerels?
Pointed feathers outside of hackle area (where even hens appear to have pointed feathers) always indicate a bird being a male. :) It's the easiest way to sex!
