I posted a subject yesterday about my chick i had to hatch myself. Well yesterday he seemed great, he was running around, even knocking over others. Well, this morning, I woke up and he was just laying there, breathing. He won't open his eyes or anything. What happened to him? Is it possible he got chilled or maybe got an infection? He moves every now and then but just mainly lays there and breaths. Is there any hope for my little chick or any way i can save him? I would just hate to see him die.
Right now I have him in a towel in my hands, keeeping him at least warm and comfortable.

Could have gotten a "cold". Has he been eating and drinking? Best to keep him warm and rub (gently) his little tummy.
Also check the brooder for something foreign that he might have eaten.

When I first put him in the brooder, he did drink here and there and kind of pecked at the food so I dont know if anything got in.
I put him back in the bator for a while to see if it helps.

Aww so sorry for your loss. I know the chicks that "we" hatch out usually aren't strong to begin with and most will not make it. That's why most let nature take its course. I helped several out and only had three make it so far, the rest died. The three I DID help out have something wrong with them but the one did live and I believe he is still living but he's "not right" to say the least. The other two are not full grown yet but one does have a crooked beak and the other bad feet. Sometimes you just can't help but help them out.

There is usually a reason they can't get out. Now the only time I will help is if I screw up the humidity and they are shrink wrapped in there...and then too, they will usually have crooked feet or toes for some reason.
