Hi guys, i had 12 muscovy eggs in my bator , after a week i candled and 5 were developing yay. Cutting long story short they were due hatch between fri and sunday, one piped last tuesday and hatched wed very poorly looking and with yolk sack , but after lots of tlc is healthy and running around, my question is

another started chirping yesterday and tapping away, but still not pipped this evening when do i help

Wait a full 3 days after external PIP - I have hatched (and lost) a lot of Muscovy's this year - If they hatch on their own they are a lot healthier.

Now if you see that a duck is wrapped tight (after 48 hours) you can help. I have had almost all of the ducks survive that I have helped out of the shell.

The problem is that you want the membrane to have no blood in it and the yoke needs to have time to be absorbed - so don't help to quick!

Grassman 52 , thanks great advice , getting concern as was chirping lots yesterday, but today not as much tho i can see its shadow in the air sack end moving just concerned as i dont want to lose it :0( as one hatched yesterday but was so tired died .but my prem is doing well ;0)

Once they make the external PIP - they sometimes sleep a lot - no worries because now they are getting good air flow

hi there yesterday morning duckling finally piped so, we waited and yesterday afternoon it emerged, and my heart sank as both legs were pointed behind him one foot with 2 individual toes no webbing and the other with 2 webbed toes , is there any hope for him ?
