Helpful Treatment for Ascites

I wanted to post this bc I had not seen this posted anywhere else. When my hens got diagnosed with ascites, my vet prescribed Lasix (yes the people medication) and it worked wonders. I got about 8 more months with my girl and never had to manually drain the fluid. The prescription only cost me $20 for a entire month. If you dont have the means to manually drain the fluid at a vet for your bird, I highly recommend asking your vet for a prescription.
 
In cases where folks have a vet who will see chickens, this is great information!

So glad it worked for your hen as eight months is a long time for them to live with ascites. Sorry for your loss though. :hugs
