Do you or don't you? I have a later hatching BC Marans and I need advice. Leave it alone, right? I have only had one chick hatch in more than 12 hours and had some problems. I have 1.5 hours left on day 21.

Tell me to leave it alone.

don't help unless it has been at least a day since when they were due to hatch. There is a sticky on this forum I think for helping them out if it does come down to that.

From first "star" pip to hatch could be as much as 24 hours. After 24 hours, I usually hold the egg up to my ear and listen for peeping, scratching...some sound. If nothing, I candle for movement. If still nothing, I very careful open the pip a bit further and look for movement, a little beak moving...something.
