chippy is my hen, she recently came home after being missing for 4 days, she was picked up by a hawk we think it dropped her on accident but we realy dont know, all I know is it was a miracle. when she got home she refused to eat, now the rooster isn't letting her eat any food so I brought her inside everyday to feed and water her. after watching her for a few days I noticed she cant bend down, she doesn't seem strong enough to fly and she only looks at me with one of her eyes, the other is very dilated and slightly closed. could she be suffering a slight or mild neck or back injury? she also recently lost her sister, they went missing at the same time, could she still be in shock?

Do you have any pictures of her and her injuries that you could share? Sorry that you lost the other hen and that Chippy is injured. Is she able to stand and walk? Does she have open wounds or cuts? It does sound like she may have some neck/back or internal injuries. I would get her warm, and offer food and water to her several times a day, and leave it in her crate. Wet chicken feed, scrambled egg, tuna, or canned cat food in small amounts are good, but water is most important. I would try to get her back into the coop with the others soon, but keep her inside the crate with food and water so that the others can see her. A wire crate is better for that. She might be able to get around inthe flock when she heals some, but if she is removed from the flock for very long, they may attack her when she comes back. Just be aware of that if she needs to be inside for very long. Let us know how she is getting along.

the top picture is the eye she refuses to look at me with, the other eye is just a comparison, it doesn't seem like she has any open wounds I try to put her back in the coop at night or after I feed her, sadly we dont have a wire crate but I can see what I can do, thank you for your concern =)
