Does a Hen’s comb continue to grow as she gets older? As a fairly new chicken owner, I’m now experiencing maturing Hens, well, Hens that are 3yrs. I have a few that I swear, in older age that their comb shapes are changing…

Thanks ya’ll …

In my experience, their combs slow growth at point of lay, but I have seen it appear to change shape a bit over the years. You also may see their combs shrink and become pale if they go into their laying dormancy, or if the become broody or sick. Once they start laying again or become well, you will see the comb plump back up. It is a good indicator of that. You may have already noticed. Do you think that is what you could be seeing?
