Hen acting like she's egg bound but no egg?

Hey BYC!

One of our fine hens, Lagniappe, has been acting a bit off for the past couple days. She's 9 months old and has started laying, though we don't know when she last laid. In the coop, we've noticed her droop and sort of penguin, quite unlike herself previously. When we placed her in the nest box, she appears to be straining to lay an egg but no egg has came out. We have palpated for an egg and have internally examined for an egg, but there's no egg. She seems to be eating and drinking a bit less and overall appears less energetic. We haven't noticed her poop but when we examined her internally there was some greenish poop. She was also broody last week, spending a lot of time in the nest box, but is currently not broody anymore.

We sprayed the coop and dipped them in pyrethrin last week and the others have recovered well from it!

Any thoughts and comments would be much appreciated!

Get some calcium citrate with vitamin D right away and give her one into the back of her beak to swallow, daily for the next 3 days, or until she lays the egg. If you have no calcium, Tums will do till you get some. Place her in a warm and steamy room on a towel. No soaks or baths.

We've started her on Calcium Citrate + Vitamin D as recommended and overall her temperament seems to be the same for the most part. She's still penguining and lethargic, but there were moments where she moved and ate some feed and vegetables.

We caught her poop in the picture above and it was described as greasy.

As for her egg laying, we're not sure if laid yesterday. On palpation we couldn't feel an egg near her vent. Over the past couple days we've collected eggs that we think are similar to her eggs but we are again uncertain.

Also the last time we dewormed the chickens was December 23, 2022; I'm not sure if it's time to deworm them again.
