Hen ate eggs she is sitting on?

I have a banty hen that was sitting on 11 little eggs. The only problem was that her eggs were not fertile because she had not been in with the rooster. I got 8 eggs from a friend and replaced her eggs with them. Yesterday I noticed she had pecked open 2 of the eggs and ate them. Does she know something I don't? Or just not going to do well this time? I just picked her up this summer so I am not sure what her previous sitting experience is.

I've had a hen do this before. When I tried to fool her, she wouldn't have any of it. I don't know why. Other hens will let you sneak a watermelon under them and they're fine with it.

I have no banty experience at all. Maybe someone else does.....
