Hen dies after hatching eggs

Hi,
I joined this site today because I am so upset. I read how cool it is to let your hen hatch her eggs.So when my sweet little buff Peaches went broody I let her hatch 2 eggs. They hatched 2 days ago.
Today she died in my arms. Nobody said it could kill her. Pixie and Dixie are adorable but so not worth the price.
Thank you for letting me get that off my chest.

I am so sorry about your hen.

She must have had something wrong with her in the first place to have died so quickly. And sometimes broodies don't take enough care of themselves while brooding their eggs. They need to get off the nest and eat and drink properly. Dust bath as well to keep the mites off of them.

You might give her a once over to see if she had any mites, or got too thin from not eating enough. If it was overly hot where you live, she could have dehydrated or just over heated.
