Hen disappeared…💔

So last night I did a head count on the girls and one of my olive eggers was missing. I looked everywhere with a flash light. I thought for sure she got taken by a hawk or raccoon there was no feathers or blood anywhere. Unfortunately our neighbor txted my husband the morning saying they saw a dead chicken by the road. She got hit by a car last night got too close to the road In a weird way I was relieved it wasn’t a predator because then I’d have be on guard for the others but I still hate that she got hit by a car she was a pretty lady but was curious and like to wonder off a lot

Putting my chickens up an hour before dark allows me time to 'search' the coop for any predators that might be in there hiding(before locking it up!) My chickens rarely go near the road but I have one particular hen that heads down my drive way soon as I let her out. Living their best life comes at a price! Sorry for your loss!
