I found my hen laying on the straw outside in covered coop just now. Observed to see if she could walk and she kept weight off right foot. I picked her up and wings seem ok, but her abdomen in distended and hot, feels like it is full of air?, breathing is labored, vent is clean but as she breathes vent moves also. Is she eggbound or what? Please help, I sure hope I get a response before it's too late. Meanwhile I will read on eggbound.
edited to add:
I cannot feel an egg but didn't want to press around too hard
She is a 2yr old Buff Orpington
She is inside in a container with straw partly covered with towel to keep it darker in there, I heated up moist towels and have been changing them out for an hour now for her to sit on - she seems to breather a little easier when it is a fresh hot towel), I got her to eat some oatmeal, but no water or cod liver oil mixed with yogurt. Not sure what else I can do for her, at least she ate so I know she's not starving.
