I am new to owning chickens. 1 Ameriacauna now has a 2-3" bald spot in front of her tail. What can I do to help her? Is it the rooster doing it to her? Both Americanuans are quite shy and really wont approach me. Do I capture her in the morning while in the coop? We do have an enclosed run if isolation is needed. They currently free range.

could be from the rooster or another hen is plucking her feathers. how many hens do you have, just the two? if so the ratio I read here is one rooster to ten hens otherwise he will mate them to much and cause them damage, wounds, pain

There are 3 hens and I have 3 chicks to add to the flock once they are grown. They are almost 4 weeks. The other 2 hens dont seem to be suffering this. One of them, The black hen seems to fend off the rooster and wont allow him to mate with her. He is only 1 year old, and she seems like the boss.
