Hello. My Buff Brahma started limping on her right leg three days ago, but she still managed to leave the coop for the day and go back inside at night. Then yesterday she stopped coming out of the coop, remaining in their all day long. She limps around and then lays down after a few steps. We looked all over her feet and legs and have found no signs of an external injury. I even moved all of her joints in her toes and ankle and she didn't flinch, which leaves me to believe the injury is higher up her leg. She has not been attacked by anything because she has been in her run since before the symptoms began. What should we do? Any suggestions welcome!!!

I had one behave like this and I gave her a warm bath and discovered she had a bad, bad case of mites! Treated her and she rebounded just fine. Hers were all up in her hip area and that's what caused her to limp.

I looked over her whole body and found no evidence of mites. After spending two days in one spot on the coop floor she finally got up yesterday morning and decided to try and hobble down the ramp to go outside. I picked her up and set her on the ground and she hung out there all day eating and drinking. This morning she got up and still has a limp but is now walking around again. I'm thinking that she injured herself, probably while chasing and picking on our younger hens and she just needed a couple days of R and R. Thank you for the tip.
