My 2 year old hen has a very large crop, which seems to be twice the size it should be naturally. It doesn’t seem to bother her most of the time, however, she has gotten sour crop twice already.

Each time she gets sour crop we treat her and she gets better. However, I am concerned that her large crop has something to do with her getting sour crop so much (none of our other chickens have got it in years).

So, does anyone have any advice on what I should do about this?

What are you treating her with? Dies she need a crop bra?
What's her diet? Any known reproductive issues?
When she got sour crop (she doesn’t have it now) we treated her with Monistat. We’d give it to her for 2 weeks and she’d be better. Her crop was still large, but it would get smaller and no longer feel squishy (she’d also behave normal again).

I have no idea if her crop needs a bra or that chickens having a bra was a thing.

We feed our chickens organic layers feed (I can give you the brand if it matters). However, all the chickens get to run around outside foraging and get food scrapes. Obviously nothing moldy or anything like that.

As far as I’m aware she lays eggs just fine. She has never had any abnormal eggs or trouble there.
