So here is the story:
Daisy (a BO hen) went broody three weeks ago, so I was letting her her set, and one day I saw her get up to eat, drink, and defecate. Well, she was limping a little, and I just summed it up to that she had been sitting too long, and her legs were asleep (like what happens to us). But as the weeks went on, it seemed to get worse and worse. Now, right when her eggs are due, she barely spends anytime in the box at all, because it is so hard to get up and down out of the nest boxes (thankfully, another hen took aver her nest).
Well, anyway, the other day I picked her up to check it out, and she has absolutely no feeling in her right leg. She doesn't grab my finger when I touch it (she does with the other one) and she had no reaction when I flick her leg, either. Other then it being really hard for her to walk, she is acting completely normal! She is attentive, and tries to get away when I come close to her, she is eating and drinking, etc. Any idea what this might be? Just a fluke? Or should I be worried that it is a disease that is going to spread to the rest of my flock? Will she live happily like this (the other chickens are not picking on her at all)? Or would it be nice to put her out of her misery (doesn't look like misery to me...)?
If you need me to answer more questions, I will certainly try! I just want to know what is wrong with my baby... Oh, and I forgot to mention that she is one of two chicks that survived from a hatch last August. She was hatched and raised by a Broody Hen.
