So we recently bought new hens from a bad home. When the old owner caught them he used a net and was not kind about it at all. We noticed on of our new girls limping and found her ankle/knee? Like this. I’m going to put her in a chicken wheelchair to keep it straight and so she won’t put pressure anymore and will clean it daily. What else should I do? Should I splint it. It doesn’t seem to be cut but more like where there should be bone it’s soft and sinks in.

Looks infected. You are keeping all these new birds quarantined from your existing flocks right?

Can she walk/stand at all? If she can, it may be better just to wrap and let her move about with her flock the best she can than to isolate her in a sling.

I would clean well with Hibiclens (Chlorhexidine) then apply triple antibiotic ointment. An oral antibiotic would be a good idea. Amoxicillin can be ordered online.

It is best to seek vet care for this if at all possible.
