im going to be using half of a 14x14 metal shed for the girls putting nesting boxes so they have better cover from rain wind and snow my question is I want to put chicken wire over the 2x4s so there is good ventilation for my girls my husband disagrees that he thinks we need to put up solid walls with the door to keep the dander down he thinks the dander will be like our cockatoo the roll up door to this shed stays open spring thru fall as im in and outta there daily many times.
im hoping someone here would have done something similar and tell me the pros and cons

The walls would probably be better than the chicken wire. If you have predators around, they can rip through chicken wire and get your chickens. The good thing about chicken wire is that it is lighter and, cheaper, and easier to install. You could put small ventilation holes in the wall.

I use walls for my coop. Chicken wire is weaker so it could get damaged in a short amount of time.

I should have clarified that I would be using the 1/2" hardwarecloth we don't have problems really with preditors unless you could noisy neighbors then yes I have 2 of them

A wall may help keep noisy neighbors out. Noise shouldn't really affect hen laying. Its just a matter of preference. If you can't afford much, go with the hardwired cloth. If you want something secure, use the walls which are a little pricier.

Maybe you dont' have problems with predators because you haven't had anything they are interested in preying on till now. Don't assume you have no predators just because you haven't seen any around in the past. Once you get some nice tasty chickens on the menu, you may be surprised at what happens to appear to take advantage of the new menu offerings. Even in residential areas you can still have raccoons and possibly foxes as well as neighborhood dogs that roam at night. I never see any dogs in our yard, but when we have snow, in the morning I can see tracks where a dog wandered through our yard overnight.
