OH.
My hen (bulldozer) has been laying in the nesting box for a little over three hours. Its really hot out, so I removed her from the nest and threw her outside to get some water. She did lay a egg but she didn't realize or something. I gave them some lettuce and headed back inside. I figured I'll check on them in a hour or so and make sure they have water and everything is alright. If she is still in there I'm going to guess she is broody. But she is almost 3 years old and has never been broody before. Although we got some new girls which some have started laying, so there is 5 eggs in the box almost everyday while I'm at school. I collect them everyday after school and if I have games or practice then when I get home. What do you guys think? Broody?

Ok thanks, but why would she want to sit there for 3 hours on a 100 degree day? ???? I want a broody hen but not right now, it's way to hot out.

HELP!!! She is now making this really weird sound, she is making a gurgling sound. She is breathing really hard, is it just her growling while she is breathing or is something wrong? Please someone help!

What is this gurgling noise? I'm freaking out! Please tell me she isn't going to die. I love her very much and can't have another one die! I just can't go through this again!

Hens sometimes growl at anyone that comes near their nest when they are broody, if you don't want her broody take the eggs out of the nesting box and put a frozen water bottle in there to cool her off and that also might stop the her from being broody, if she is broody. What breed is she?

No, it's not growling I no what growling sounds like, it's a gurgling sound. I got her off the nest and so far she hasn't got back on Again. But thanks anyway
