I have a hen who is laying down with her head down to the floor. When I interacted with her she moved a little bit but was slow and squatting a bit. She tried to hop onto the roost but was not able to. I tried to get her to eat and drink but she wouldn’t. She is still aware of her surroundings and moves her head around staying alert. She was perfectly fine yesterday this only just started. I don’t know what could be wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you for your time.

Update: when I went to check on her this morning and she was in a location far from where she last was. She had hopped onto the roost and was standing upright instead of squatting. Fingers crossed that she continues to get better.

What does her crop feel like? When did she lay last?

I just checked on her again. I separated her so the roosters wouldn’t bother her and she had laid an egg. She was laying down but her head was upright and when she saw me she stood up and walked away, albeit a little slow but she seems more perky.

That’s good! Is she still doing okay?
