Hen is becoming a rooster. Can I change her back?

My 8 month old svart hona hen, Freya, is becoming a rooster. 3 weeks ago, her egg laying slowed down, then stopped completely. Her comb and wattles grew larger, and her voice changed to the deeper cluck of a rooster. She started strutting, but like a young cockerel still learning how to strut. No crowing yet, but that will probably come soon.

She used to have actual roosters in her flock, but we moved them to their own flock in late June. Is Freya becoming a rooster because there are no real roosters in her flock anymore? Will putting a real rooster in with her make her change back into a hen?

I do know this happens and it usually happens when there is no rooster in the flock.

Do you know if putting her in with a rooster will at least make her start laying again?

It's possible she has developed a reproductive disorder, despite her young age. That is the most common reason why a female starts to develop male traits.

Yup, that is what I have read too. An injury or other reproductive problem that causes testosterone to rise (though it also happens in senior hens as well, my 7 year old Buff Orp hen now tidbits for the other hens and has grown spurs).
