Hi all ,
I have one hen ( 1yo Easter egger ) who is constantly laying soft shelled eggs / eggs with really thin eggs and also wonky / misshapen eggs . She only started laying about three weeks ago and lays almost every day . She is eating organic layers pellets and free range all day . She doesn’t get bullied or anything in fact she is top of the pecking order . I have one other hen who lays soft shells off the roost every now and then but she’s 5 yo . The ee in question has a sister who lays perfectly fine eggs .
I don’t understand if it’s just because she is a new layer or if I’m doing something wrong .
Thanks in advance.

I'd also have separate dishes with grit and oyster shell available, even though you are feeding a layer feed. Easy to do, and no harm for anyone.
She may improve, or not, it's her internal 'egg machinery' that's not working well. Additional calcium given to her might help, or not, because she's likely getting enough for a bird who's 'normal'.
Is she going into a molt? Stressed socially in the flock? Acting 'off' in any way otherwise? If it's temporary, just wait it out, things might go to normal soon.

Thanks for your reply! I’ll get some oyster shells ! I’m just worried that the softy shells will cause egg eating or that an egg will break in her and cause an infection.
