I'm new to owning chickens and need some guidance, please. Yesterday one of our hens had some drainage from her backside then laid a malformed egg. One end was shell and the other end was a clear, firm, rubbery substance. After that she just stayed in one spot, wouldn't walk around or eat--just wasn't acting right. After a few minutes she passed albumin and yolk and then a broken shell that looked like it had just been squeezed too hard. She still wasn't acting her normal self so she got to spend the night in our utility room.
Do I need to do anything or am I being overly concerned? Is there anything I need to watch for?
Thanks in advance!
