I have chickens that are laying similar eggs. Twice now one has laid a cracked egg and it looks like it tried to reshell and feels a bit chalky and the other chicken has laid 2 peewee eggs. My theory is a traumatic event, possible a hawk that shows up occasionally. I will be adding crushed egg shells to their diet just in case its calcium deficiency. Thankfully I have been saving my egg shells for my tomato plants this spring so I have plenty. Although, I will keep searching to see if there is another alternate reason.
