i have 2 RIR hens that have been laying just fine for 6 months, now one has started droping her eggs at various places around the yard and they are not developed completely the shells are very thin.what could be the cause of this?

thanks

mick

Have you provided oyster shell for them? Lack of calcium can be the cause of this issue.

i'm just using a layer type of feed, should i add some oyster shell?if so where do i get it and how much should i use?

thanks

mick

You should be able to get oyster shell at your local feed store. Some mix it in with the food, but I just have a dish available. The girls know when they need it.
